What is A.P. Lang. & Comp.?
Email Home
Advanced Placement Language and Composition is a college-level course designed to develop students' reading and writing ability. This course is non-fiction based, with an emphasis on dicussing not necessarily WHAT is said in a text, but HOW it is said. Students will learn rhetorical strategies - both how to recognize their uses in other's writing, and how to use those strategies in their own writing. To meet this goal, students read and write constantly. If they're not creating and new essay, they're working on revising an old essay.
The workload is, therefore, very heavy. Students can expect an average of 5-7 hours of homework per week for this course. All this work will pay off, though, when students take the A.P. exam in May! More information on this exam to come as it approaches.
